Defining themselves as the “band with the groove” Tokyo Groove has managed to combine the very best of Motown with South African legends and the latest Top 40 hits in a stylish, energetic performance that ensures that once the dance floor opens … it stays open! Tokyo Groove exploded onto the main-stream music scene with their debut hit single “Get Down Saturday Night” in 2009. The track charted nationally and hit number one in CT and JHB, adding to the band’s phenomenal reputation and increasing their demand in the festival and mainstream circuit. The year 2010 ended with another hit single as “Celebration” reached number one again in CT and JHB. Primarily a corporate band, this incredibly dynamic group has been performing at SA’s top events since early 2008 and has earned a reputation for professionalism, quality and a really good party.
Some of their functions and clients have included the launch of The MSC Sinfonia, Emperors Summer Holiday Festival, The Vodacom Year End Party, The Nedbank Golf Challenge, The Sunshine Golf Tour, Welcoming Miss World, Bidvest, Miss South Africa and New Years Eve Party at the Superbowl (Sun City) two years in a row! They also performed at the 94.7 Nando’s Peri Peri Cruise, The Upington & Vryburg Skou, and dozens of corporate events for companies like Telkom, Engen, Nedbank etc as well as a number of private events and weddings. Tokyo Groove released their fourth single, “That’s The Way Love Is” in August.
